Cupcake day for the RSPCA!

On Monday the 15th of August, it was cupcake day for the RSPCA. I love the RSPCA and I wanted to help them raise money to fight animal cruelty. The RSPCA was also my genius hour project so I thought this would be an awesome thing to tie into my presentation.  I decided to make and sell some cupcakes to the 5/6’s and teachers. In total we raised $120.15! Thank you to everyone who bought a cupcake to help this amazing cause! Here are some photos of the cupcakes and my presentation:

Fair Dinkum!

I really enjoyed the play ‘Fair Dinkum’. It was great approach  to get all of the students ready for Book Week. It was an interesting play that got all of the students engaged . As well as showing us the books that were short listed, ‘Fair Dinkum’ taught us the lesson that,  IMG_4081IMG_4084 ‘worries are just in your head’…….,

remember it all started from a thought!

I am really enjoying Book Week so far!

Bee Behaviour

This week we have been learning about the school expectation of taking care of your belongings and equipment.

We talked about why it is important to take care of our things and realised that when we do we are being responsible, being safe and being respectful!

Watch our video below to see different ways you can take care of your belongings.

Veggie Patches!

In EIT we have been very busy getting our veggies patches ready for planting.

We started by pulling out all the weeds and turning the soil. When we were turning the soil, we found lots of worms and even some caterpillars!

Next we planted some:

  • Orange carrots
  • Purple carrots
  • Lettuce
  • Peas
  • Snow peas
  • Asian greens
  • Marigolds
  • Alyssum
  • Echinacea

It was fantastic to see everybody getting their hands dirty and working as team to get the job done.

What are you most excited to see grow?

New Futsal Information

If you look through our blog, you will find information about futsal. I am know going to tell you more about the event.

On Friday the 26th of August, the 2 teams of 7 players will be going to the Bundoora Sports Complex to play in an all day futsal tournament against teams from Serpells, some semi-pro soccer clubs and more school teams from around Manningham.

Unfortunately, this means we will not be able to do the lapathon. It is a shame because the lapathon sounds like a great idea.

We can’t wait for this event. Comment below if you want to ask more questions or if you want to wish us luck.

Book review 😱

Hey everyone it your library monitor Myar here with another post for you all.

So today I have decided to do a review on one of my many favourite book series that I read really quickly, and that book series is the Girl Online Series by Zoe Sugg

Girl Online- Girl online is a wonderful story about a girl called Penny and her blog, Girl Online, this blog is anonymous so no one knows (except for her best friend Elliot) about the writer. This blog is were Penny writes her feelings about Friendship, Boys, Her crazy Family, And the panic attacks that have been taking over her life. But when things go from bad to worse her family takes her to New York, wher she meets Noah, Penny is falling in love and is capturing ever moment of it on her blog. But Noah has some secrets to. Some that threaten to ruin Penny’s cover and her closest friendship for ever.

I would recommend this book for ages 11+

Please tell me in the comments what your favourite book is and who your dressing up as for BOOK WEEK. I’m going as Penny👌🏼💕. Well that’s all I have to say so I’m over and OUT.

On the weekend all our wonderful Confirmation candidates attended a commitment mass. We are lucky to have so many incredible candidates who already show the gifts of the Holy Spirit, in many different ways. A special thank you to Fr Gerry, Pam and all the teachers who attended one of the masses to support our candidates in the faith journey.

Conference with charity Bahay Tuluyan and the 5/6s

On Friday the 5/6s were lucky enough to receive a visit from Catherine, Clare and some other members of the wonderful charitable organisation Bahay Tuluyan. This wonderful organisation does fantastic work helping people in the Philippines. As well as receiving valuable information, students participated in activities where they had to put themselves into the shoes of someone living in extreme poverty….it was a very eye opening experience. We learnt a lot from the day and thank Catherine, Clare and their team for coming to visit with us as their workshops linked in perfectly with out RE unit, The Common Good and gave us some great ideas of how we can help others.
