Junior Chef – Caramel Popcorn

Hello everyone, I am this week’s Junior Chef ! I am so excited to be the first junior chef for the year. The recipe I decided to share with you is a recipe for Caramel Popcorn.

Ingredients

  • 11 tablespoons of butter
  • 45g golden syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon
  • 2 tablespoons of thickened cream
  • Unsalted popcorn kernals
Equipment

  • A saucepan
  • A tray lined with baking paper
  • A spoon

 

 

Method:

1. In a saucepan combine the butter, brown sugar and golden syrup over medium heat. Bring to the boil and let it cook for a further 3 minutes.

2. Take the mixture off the heat add the water and stir. Let the mixture cool for 5 minutes and add the cream.

3. Pop your popcorn and place it onto the tray. Drizzle on the caramel and enjoy. (caramel doesn’t harden)

Remember to get an adult to help and that you are supervised by an adult

Heart Kids Foundation

Dear families of St Charles,

In 5/6I we do a program called Genius Hour. For our Genius Hour passion project, we have decided to focus on ‘Heart Kids’ which is a charity that supports kids with heart problems. As a part of our project we are asking all classes to support the heart kid by donating 50 cents. Each class will have a box which you can put your donation in.

The class that raises the most donations will get  20 minutes of extra recess time.

Genius Hour In 5/6I

In 5/6I we have been working on genius hour. Genius hour is where each student gets an hour a week to work on a passion project where we can present a project to the class on anything we are interested in.
