Hi, everyone! My name is Alyssa and I am in charge of choosing the Book of the Week. The book I have chosen is called Smile by Raina Telgemeier. “Smile” is about a girl who severely injures her two front teeth. What follows is a long and frustrating journey with on and off braces, surgery, headgear and even a retainer with two fake teeth attached. And on top of that, a major earthquake, boy drama, and friends that aren’t actually so friendly. This is a true story about the author’s childhood, which takes us to a place where discovers what true friendship means and finds a place where she can finally… smile. I really enjoyed this book and I give it 4/5 stars. I would recommend this book for children over 10.
