Sea of Hands 2018/2019

Last week, our FIRE Carrier Leaders old and new ‘passed the torch’ from 2018 to 2019! Hudson, Jacinta, Reyhan and Allegra worked together with Olivia, Chiara, Piper and Raf to create our Sea of Hands display in the front garden. And doesn’t it look fab?! Thanks to everyone for contributing to this event!

2018 FIRE Carrier Farewell and Thank You!

Congratulations and thank you to Hudson, Reyhan, Jacinta and Allegra for your enthusiasm and leadership as SCB FIRE Carrier’s for 2018. It has been wonderful working with all four of you. On Tuesday, the Year 4’s listened to speeches written by our FIRE Carrier Leaders and were asked to consider applying for the role in 2019. Handwritten or printed letters are due on Tuesday (last day) or can be emailed to Miss Bugno by Friday 21st Dec. Be sure to check out our last 2018 FIRE Carrier project, the Sea of Hands display early next year in the front garden (we haven’t forgotten!)

FIRE Carrier Leaders Day

Today, the FIRE Carriers spent the day at Amberley Centre getting to know their fellow leaders in the North Eastern Region and learn more about their role for 2017. We began our day with a traditional smoking ceremony, a welcome to country and prayer. After this, students learned more about Bunjil the Eagle and the spiritual significance of this story. We then took part in two different workshops where we decorated leaves and sticks collected from the local area and then listened to guest speaker, Dean Stewart. Dean explained many Aboriginal customs and traditions, as well the importance of language, continued education and the true meaning of the word ‘Indigenous’. It was a fantastic day and another wonderful example of our school leaders representing St Charles Borromeo with pride. Well done Gemma, Lucas, Sofia and Olivia!
