Bullystoppers: I AM JACK

In 3/4 this term, we are learning more about the term ‘bully’ and the different behaviours associated with bullying. Through the guidance of Kate Wilde and the story ‘I am Jack’ by Susanne Gervay, student action teams are currently researching and preparing a presentation for the end of term Bullystoppers evening. We are also eagerly awaiting a visit from Susanne Gervay on March 17th as part of National Day Against Bullying. Take some time to ask a 3/4 student their thoughts about this book and programme, we would love to share our insights with you!

Look Who We Found!!

Last week, the 1/2’s watched a short clip about the voluntary organisation All Hands as part of their Values lesson. All Hands is a not-for-profit organisation that was founded in 2005 after the Sumatran tsunami that claimed the lives of approximately 230,000 people. Since 2005, All Hands has helped many disaster stricken communities including New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina and Japan following the earthquake and tsunami. At the end of the clip, a familiar face appeared on the screen and it was heart warming to hear children calling out, ‘It’s Miss Stubbings!!!’, ‘Look! Miss Stubbings!’ We are so proud of our dear friend Miss Stubbings who has been working with All Hands for the past few months. A huge thumbs up from St Charles!!!

Showing Confidence!

This week in 5/6I we have been learning the value of confidence! We created role plays showing times when we lack confidence and times when we show confidence. Speaking in front of others was a common time when we struggled to show confidence! We thought of some strategies that we could use when we are in these situations.

Showing confidence!

Public speaking can be a time when we need to show confidence.
