Congratulations to the students who participated in the annual Italian Catholic Schools Poetry Competition which was held yesterday at St. John the Baptist Primary School in Ferntree Gully. The students put in an amazing effort and were thrilled to finish in first place.  BRAVISSIME!

Colour Run 4 Fun

Just a reminder that this Friday after school is the Colour Run!!

Make sure you have raised enough money and asked enough family and friends to sponsor you to receive a prize of your choice. Don’t forget that there will be food and drink and to bring clothes for you to wear while you run.

The money raised will go to new equipment for our school and don’t forget to have fun!!

THE GREAT BOOK SWAP FOR THE INDIGENOUS LITERACY FOUNDATION!

What a huge success The Great Book Swap was on Thursday at our Feast Day! Thank you to so many of you who donated books and came along to support such a worthy event! Together we raised a total of $124.10 in just half an hour! I think that’s pretty impressive. All book donations left over are being donated to charity so this event really has helped so many people over all. The goal this year was to raise $350,000 Australia-wide in order to buy 35,000 books for school children living in remote communities and we at St Charles Borromeo have certainly played our part. Thank you everyone and in particular our FIRE Carriers: Raf, Chiara M, Olivia and Piper for your leadership and organisation of this event.

Charity begins at home!

Roman Jarski in 3/4BC knew wanted to reach out and help someone but didn’t know how. So earlier this year, he and his Mum sat down and researched possible options. Together they came across a charity called, ‘Samaritan’s Purse: Operation Christmas Child’. This charity is responsible for helping children who would normally go without at Christmas time, receive a thoughtful and beautifully packaged gift in a red and green shoebox. During October, ‘Mission Month’, students across the 3/4 level have generously donated items such as clothing, toys, toiletries and books and these shoe boxes were delivered to the charity on Friday. I would like to acknowledge Roman’s initiative and generosity of spirit, not to mention his confidence in leading and promoting this charity across the level. And I’d also like to thank EVERYONE who made a donation, big or small. The smiles on the faces of these children on Christmas time warms my heart just thinking about it!
